Gray is like a 3rd Diaz brither
With middle fingers & taunting
BTW Fuck Guida

rd 1 and 2 were pretty much the same. i saw the stats after the fight and they dont add up to what i counted after a couple of replays. agreed 100%.

Interesting bout. I missed the first 2 rounds, caught the last three. This is a sporting event, not a popularity ego fashionable attitude contest. I’d like to see a count of strikes landed to prove to me the descision was correct. Also I didn’t see any marks on Guidas face. Granted I wasnt afforded a close up but didn’t need one for Maynard. I don’t care for Guidas style but that doesnt excuse to loose. Maynard had plenty of opening he doesnt see apparently, to capitalize on. Oh well 3-5rd Guida
ibewillow dit:
im with you on the guida fight, but anyone who thinks diaz was anywhere close to competing with condit is delusional.and i hope youre not calling diaz a top contender.he has already been beaten by two guys in the top ten and hasnt yet beaten any fighter in the current top ten.guida/maynard, i didnt like the fight, but im liking it more each day.why should anyone be told how to fight.an octagon isnt that big,if you cant corner someone trying to run,you probably need to learn some tequnique
PieRo3712 dit:
i know its late but gray is a pretty god damn good wrestler from MSU
PieRo3712 dit:
why do people blame Greg Jackson for the stand up hes the grappling couch. Mike Winkeljohn is the asshole to blame for fights like this and Diaz vs Condit. GSP has a different stand up couch at Tristar
ViaticMindz dit:
Guida didnt throw a single strike while being chased down for something around 3 minutes. I really dont get how people dont understand that if Gray didnt push the fight there would have been no fight. Is that not what there were there to do? It was clear clay was avoiding exchanges not to counter but just to survive. Just like condit. Proved they could survive with a top contender but dont really prove they can beat them, just duck and cover.
ViaticMindz dit:
Actually Gray had more strikes and did more damage did you see Clays cyclops eye at the post fight interview. Laying on your back and not engaging your opponent and waiting for them is stalling in its own right, and is completely different then running from your opponent how can you compare the two? What i saw is one fighter trying to engage while the other choose to run. What can you do if your opponent doesnt engage. You cant win a fight by circling.
ibewillow dit:
more strikes and total damage should equal victory, it didnt.this is mma,you should adapt to whatever your opponent brings, not complain that he wont stand in front of you.if the ufc outlaws this type of fighting what happens when the next jujitsu genius lays on his back from the opening bell.the ref should tell his opponent to get in there and fight, avoiding exchanges is all the same.and youre comparing condit and guida, same gameplan exept condit absolutely destroyed diaz.really no comparison.

ladys and gentleman welcome to dancing with the stars! another fighter showed his amazing dancing moves in an octagon in a really good fassion WTF?! best part was maynard gave a fuck about defense and said coomon hit me mofo hit me!.. MAYNARD ALL THE WAY YO!

CARLOS CONDIT VS CLAY GUIDA…… IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN!
dontkilltomebro333 dit:
its simple..ufc dont want nick to become champ coz he doesnt kiss ass lol
dontkilltomebro333 dit:
cant believe guida didnt get the decision..sure he was circling like crazy and stuff but he landed more punches gray didnt do fuck all to him and he still won the fight..real fight fans should appreciate the tactics i thought it was smart..i guess all people wanna see is knockouts..its easy to talk shit behind a computer and say how pussy they are, but until you get in the cage or in the ufc…JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!..muhammad ali was alwasy circling and backing away yet hes called the greatest?
ViaticMindz dit:
Its not the same ur comparing two different scenerios. If frank waited for ds to go to the ground yes it would be stalling. What the issue is with condit and guida is this. If ur there to fight and prove ur a better fighter how can it be proven if ur playing defense to the point where all ur proving is that you can stay alive while in the cage with elite fighters not actually win? If all u do is wait to counter what happens if your opponent doesnt initiate contact, how does ur game plan work then
ibewillow dit:
gray is a world class wrestler he had options.we saw nothing.im kinda with you,i dont want to see another fight like this.but then this has been compared to the condit fight where condit was brilliant.so how does the ufc stop fighters avoiding exchanges,as you say.what if jds knocked down mir, mir lays on his back and jds takes a cople of steps back. the ref says to jds »stop avoiding exchanges, fight or youll get a warning »,would jds be champ? all fighters avoid exchanges.
ibewillow dit:
gray did way less damage! i looked at the stats too and my only question is,can you count.if you can youll know that they are as rigged as the fight.watch a replay and count them yourself.im not a fan of either of these guys and this fight was crap.guida wouldnt fight and grey was so one dimensional he couldnt do anything about it.the ufc has decided to outlaw this kind of tactical fighting, and if they keep rigging fights instead of changing the rules,it will come back to bite them.
kingpin10482 dit:
Its always said that mma is a mix of all different arts.i guess take boxing off the list because the objective in boxing is hit and dont get hit
ViaticMindz dit:
Also gray had more strikes and did more damage.Gray 52-229 with 1 take down and 1 submission attempt. Guida 49-327 no takedowns no submission attempts. If you like the guy thats cool but be objective and non biased. If gray didnt push the fight there would have been no fight.
ViaticMindz dit:
Game plan? You cant expect your opponent to have to basically sprint at you to get you to fight. If you move forward to the point where your opponent moves all the way back to the cage, then he ducks and runs away without striking which guida did several times thats avoiding the fight. You cant expect gray to throw out his game plan and sprint towards guida just so they can fight. What would you have gray do to get guida to exchange with him? Think of this if gray didnt come to guida then what?
86thecolonel dit:
guida gets a warning for running away and gets robbed.carlos condit runs away from nick diaz for the entire fight and becomes interim champ hmmm
ibewillow dit:
got to agree with kingpin here.guida landed far more strikes and busted maynard up,i didnt like it but he was the clear winner.of course he was avoiding exchanges, all fighters do.you dont lose points for taking steps backward.the warning was crap,if youre going to make up new rules, fine, but at least tell the fighters.it was a crap fight, but guida got ripped off.he took in a gameplan that worked,he won the fight and because the hierarchy didnt like it they decided to make an example of him…..
ViaticMindz dit:
Your right cause he will run home to mama as soon as he sees a punch coming his way lol.
ViaticMindz dit:
Timidity, including, without limitation, avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouthpiece or faking AN injury. Thats the rules. Guida cleary was avoiding any real exchanges. Greg jackson is infamous for this kinda crap. Im very happy with the decision. The ref did a great job in warning guida for avoiding the fight. Too bad he didnt do it earlier.
ViaticMindz dit:
Yup i know jacksons gameplans are getting old and the refs and finally now the new people to mma are catching on to this. Just like condits fight very similar. What can you really do you want gray and nick to basically throw their whole game plan out the window and have to do a full on sprint just to catch them and get them to fight. Im glad the ref did something even if it was a little late.
